Emergency Call-Outs
Leaks that come and go, or only show after heavy use, traced methodically so the repair stops the source rather than the stain.
A burst is never a small problem for long. Whether it's push-fit plastic in a newer flat or copper older than the house's last owner, we stop the water, repair the damaged section and prove the fix under pressure.
Sometimes it's your pipework, sometimes it's the main under the street. We establish which quickly, get every sound part of the system running, and if the problem sits with the supplier we tell you who to ring instead of billing you for a fix that was never ours.
A drain that gurgles, smells or backs up has already blocked; the question is what it floods on the way. We clear it the same day and check the rest of the run before it gets the chance.
Flats above the High Street shops, shared bathrooms in the newer riverside blocks: when a toilet blocks or will not stop filling, we clear it, repair the cistern and check nothing has leaked to the flat below.
Renovation does more damage in Shoreham than storms do. A nail through a pipe during a loft job, a valve disturbed when a kitchen is refitted: we find the leak, repair or replace the part, and test the run before we leave.
Who We Are
Our emergency plumbers cover Shoreham-by-Sea around the clock, so you're not left trying to deal with a burst pipe or serious leak alone. We can discuss the problem over the phone, talk you through turning off the water and arrange attendance when an on-site visit is needed.
Plumbing repairs are tested before we leave, under pressure where the job allows. Further work is only undertaken after the problem, proposed solution and associated costs have been discussed.
Common Call-Outs
These are the problems behind most of the calls we take. Any of them warrants a telephone call, whatever the hour.
Where you can reach it, turn the stopcock clockwise to shut the water off; it is usually under the kitchen sink. Then open the cold taps to drain the pipes, and switch off the boiler or immersion heater if hot water is involved.
Please keep away from sockets and appliances that water has reached, and switch off at the fuse box only if it is safe. Catch what you can in buckets, move valuables, and do not stand under a ceiling that is bulging.
If you smell gas, evacuate the premises and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 before telephoning us.

Leak Detection
On Shoreham Beach and along the river, a leak under a solid floor or behind a tiled shower can travel a long way before it shows. We trace it back to the source with moisture readings and careful checking, so the repair fixes what is actually leaking rather than guessing at it.

Describe what you can see when you ring. A qualified plumber answers, including outside normal hours.
An honest arrival window and the call-out rate are both confirmed before a plumber travels.
The water is isolated safely, then the leak or blockage is traced so the cause is established rather than assumed.
Most call-outs are completed the same visit, and anything left over is isolated and made safe.
In a town where next door's plumbing can be fifty years younger than yours, a quick picture of the leak or the pipework means the right fittings arrive on the first van.
CALL 01273 086899Taps Gone Dry
Guesswork costs you a second call-out. Pressure gauges and methodical checks find the problem properly, and that is how we work from the moment we arrive.
Dry Taps, Found And Fixed → 01273 086899We start where the water does. A check at the outside stop tap and with the neighbours proves whether supply is arriving at all, and only then is there any point examining the stopcock and the pipes beyond it. Skipping that means working the wrong end of the system.
Whole-house pressure loss points at the supply pipe, the stopcock or the main. A stopcock left part closed after a repair, a scaled-up valve or a leak on the supply pipe under the garden all show up the same way. A pressure and flow reading narrows the list to one.
When one room goes dry and the rest of the house runs, those outlets usually share one branch that has failed. Typically an isolation valve, a blocked filter or a joint that has let go behind boxing. We find that branch and remake it.
A cylinder that empties fast or never heats properly usually has a failing immersion heater, a scaled coil or a valve problem on the feed. We check the cylinder and its pipework, handle the plumbing side, and tell you straight away if a Gas Safe registered engineer is needed for the boiler.
Groaning or humming while nothing is running usually means a float valve refilling slowly, or water passing a worn valve somewhere. Banging when a tap shuts is water hammer on a loose pipe. Listening at the tank and the stopcock tells us which it is.
Shower pumps vibrate, and the flexible hoses and joints around them are where leaks start. Either a hose has perished, or a joint has worked loose and drips every time the pump runs. We watch it run with the panels off and repair what we find.
Every repair gets tested before we call it done, and the details go on paper so you can see what changed. If something needs a part we can't get hold of overnight, the property is left watertight and working around the problem.

Who we work for
Three groups account for the bulk of our Shoreham-by-Sea work, each receiving the same response and paperwork.
Domestic emergency cover for burst pipes, leaks, blocked toilets and loss of water, evenings and weekends included.
Rental property repairs for landlords and letting agents, documented so the record can go straight to a tenant.
Commercial attendance for premises that cannot afford downtime, including washrooms, kitchens and drainage.
How It Works
Domestic call-outs, rental properties and commercial premises are attended by the same plumbers, to the same response times and to the same standard of work.
For businesses that means working around trading hours where it is practical to do so, and stopping the water first so that a leak does not close the premises for longer than necessary.
FAQ
Feel free to contact us for more information
It depends where it is coming from, and it is easy to misread. Most flats there have their own pipework and stopcock, with the freeholder responsible only for shared pipes and communal areas. A leak from the flat above is usually that flat's to fix, while a leak from a shared riser or soil stack sits with the managing agent. Turn off your own stopcock to rule your flat out, and we can trace the source in one visit and tell you who needs to act.
Outdoors, they genuinely do. Salt-laden air corrodes standard brass fittings quickly, so outside taps, exposed pipe clips and garden supplies on the Beach should be good-quality kit, and even then they need checking more often than the same fittings inland. Exposed pipes also freeze faster in the wind off the sea. If an outside tap has started dripping or seizing, corrosion inside the body is the usual cause and it wants replacing before it splits in a frost.
Yes. We run a 24 hour rota that covers evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Call and you get a real arrival window before anyone sets off, not a vague promise.
Up to a point, and we will be honest about where that point is. The shore-side water supply, the standpipe and the hose or pipe connection to the boat are standard plumbing work we can repair and make safe. Pumps, tanks and pipework within the vessel itself lean on marine practice rather than domestic convention, and for internal boat systems we would rather point you to a marine specialist than guess at it.
